Torianno Lakeith Callahan, Henrico County Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Nine Mile Road, Victim ID’d.
The Henrico County Division of Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Wednesday evening in Henrico County.
According to police, the Henrico County Department of Emergency Communications received a 911 call around 9:20 p.m. on February 25 regarding a reported suspicious situation involving a man walking in the roadway on Nine Mile Road near Masonic Lane.
While officers were en route, the caller reported that the man had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived at the scene, they located an adult male who was pronounced dead there.
Authorities later identified the victim as 43-year-old Torianno Lakeith Callahan of Henrico County.
Preliminary findings indicate that Callahan was walking in the roadway on Nine Mile Road when he was struck by a pickup truck. Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators.
According to officials, investigators do not believe speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors on the part of the driver. However, police noted that the pedestrian may have been under the influence at the time of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
Following the crash, Henrico County police also reminded residents about their “Watch Out Ahead Henrico” initiative, known as “WOAH!,” which encourages drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and prioritize roadway safety.
