Police Identify Security Guards Involved in Fatal Shooting at Northrop Grumman Facility.

LINTHICUM, Md. — Police have identified the security guards involved in a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon at the Northrop Grumman facility near Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. in an office area inside the defense contractor’s campus in Anne Arundel County. Two contracted security workers became engaged in a dispute that escalated to gunfire, resulting in one of the guards being fatally shot.

Security Guard Suspect in Custody

Anne Arundel County police say that the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old man from Pasadena, Maryland, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. Authorities have charged him with first-degree and second-degree murder, among related charges.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Joseph Keith Aman of Baltimore, police said. He died at the scene from his injuries.

A third contracted security guard intervened after the shooting, disarmed the suspect and held him until police arrived, officials added.

What Police Are Saying

Authorities stress that the shooting was an isolated workplace incident involving contracted security personnel and not a broader threat to the public or Northrop Grumman employees. No Northrop Grumman workers were involved in either the shooting or the arrest.

Police spokespersons have not yet released details about a possible motive, and the investigation remains active. Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Northrop Grumman Response

A spokesperson for Northrop Grumman said the company is cooperating with local law enforcement as the investigation continues and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of employees and contractors at its facilities.

Northrop Grumman, a major defense contractor, operates multiple facilities in the Baltimore area. The company did not indicate that any broader changes to campus security protocols have been implemented following the shooting.

Community Reaction and Next Steps

News of the fatal shooting has reverberated through the local community and among employees at nearby businesses. While police say there is no ongoing threat, the incident has raised questions about workplace security and oversight of contracted guards.

Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the dispute and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
