Naomi Roberson, Milam County Officials Identify Victim in Fatal Cameron Structure Fire.
Authorities in Milam County have identified the victim of a devastating structure fire that occurred earlier this week in Cameron, leaving one person dead and three others injured. The incident has deeply impacted the local community as investigators continue working to determine what caused the blaze.
According to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a structure fire at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, along County Road 242. Emergency crews from multiple agencies, including the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, Milano Volunteer Fire Department, Allegiance EMS, and the Milam County Fire Marshal’s Office, were dispatched to the scene.
When responders arrived, they found a trailer home fully engulfed in flames. Officials later confirmed that four adults were inside the residence at the time the fire started. As emergency crews worked to contain the fire, one person was able to escape the home. Tragically, another individual remained trapped inside and did not survive.
The victim has been identified as 84-year-old Naomi Roberson. Authorities expressed their condolences to Roberson’s family and loved ones as they cope with the loss.
The three remaining occupants of the home were transported to a nearby hospital by Allegiance EMS. One resident, a 60-year-old woman, was treated for minor injuries and later released. A 32-year-old man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transferred to a medical facility in Austin for further care.
A third resident, a 66-year-old man, sustained critical and life-threatening injuries and was also transported to an Austin medical center. Officials have not released additional updates on his condition.
Authorities stated that the trailer home was a total loss as a result of the fire. At this time, no information has been released regarding the cause of the fire. The Milam County Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation and will work to determine what led to the incident.
Structure fires are sudden and often leave lasting impacts on families and communities. Local officials remind residents of the importance of fire safety awareness and preparedness, especially during overnight hours when fires can be more difficult to detect.
The Milam County Sheriff’s Office thanked all responding agencies for their efforts and coordination during the emergency. Community members are encouraged to keep the Roberson family and the injured individuals in their thoughts as they recover and grieve.
Officials say updates will be shared through official channels as more information becomes available. The investigation remains ongoing.
