Mila Chatman, Amor Wilson, Two Young Girls Found Dead in Cleveland — Mother Charged, Investigation Ongoing.
Authorities in Cleveland have identified two young girls whose bodies were discovered in suitcases earlier this week. The girls, 8-year-old Mila Chatman and 10-year-old Amor Wilson, were determined by police to be half-sisters.
The Cleveland Division of Police confirmed that their mother, Aliyah Henderson, has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with their deaths. Henderson was located within 48 hours of the discovery, and a third child at her home was found unharmed.
Police said the first suitcase was discovered by a person walking a dog on March 2, 2026, leading officers to find a second suitcase shortly afterward. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the girls’ deaths, and the official causes of death have not yet been released.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd stated that careful investigative work allowed detectives to quickly identify and apprehend a person of interest while protecting the integrity of the investigation. She emphasized that not all details can be shared publicly to ensure justice for the victims.
In the wake of the tragedy, Mila’s father, Deshaun Chatman, said he had been seeking custody and welfare checks for years and is now cooperating with investigators to confirm his parental status.
This case has drawn attention to the importance of child welfare monitoring and timely reporting when concerns arise.
As detectives continue to examine the situation, what steps do you think communities and authorities can take to better protect children and prevent similar tragedies?
