Malaysha Thomas, Akron Woman Identified After Fatal Shooting at Apartment Complex.
Authorities have identified the woman who died following a shooting at an Akron apartment complex early Saturday morning.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Malaysha Thomas of Akron.
Police said officers with the Akron Police Department were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. to the 400 block of South Maple Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived at the location, they found Thomas inside her apartment with a gunshot wound. Authorities said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not yet released details about what may have led to the incident. Officials also have not announced any arrests connected to the case.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Law enforcement officials say the investigation remains active.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thomas’ identity following notification of her family.
