Jon Myles Woelk Blake, One Dead in Early Morning Rollover Crash in Pawnee County.
One person has died following a rollover crash early Saturday morning in Pawnee County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Authorities identified the driver as 36-year-old Jon Myles Woelk Blakely of Rozel. The crash was reported at approximately 1:49 a.m. along K-156 near mile marker 86.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Blakely was traveling westbound on the highway when his vehicle left the roadway on the left side. Troopers said the driver then attempted to correct course and re-entered the roadway.
Investigators reported that after returning to the road, the vehicle overturned and ultimately came to rest in the north ditch. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following the crash.
The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that Blakely was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident, and no additional injuries were noted.
Officials also stated that Blakely was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Law enforcement agencies consistently emphasize the importance of seatbelt use, noting that proper restraints significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or death in traffic collisions.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Troopers continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident, including roadway and environmental factors that may have contributed.
Single-vehicle crashes account for a significant portion of fatal accidents across the state. Authorities encourage motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and ensure that all occupants are properly secured before traveling.
