Investigators say the crash involved a 2005 Honda CRF150 dirt bike and a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck. Preliminary reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol indicate that the dirt bike was traveling south on 210th Avenue when it entered the intersection and crossed into the path of the eastbound pickup truck traveling along K-156.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
Authorities identified the rider of the dirt bike as 12-year-old Gaabriel Mull of Larned. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Despite their response, officials confirmed that Mull was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Mull was riding the dirt bike alone at the time of the crash and was wearing a helmet. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 55-year-old Robert L. Seder of Great Bend.
Officials reported that Seder was also alone in his vehicle at the time of the incident and was wearing a seat belt. Authorities said he was not injured in the collision. Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine exactly how the collision occurred.
Traffic crashes involving motorcycles, dirt bikes, or other small motorized vehicles can pose significant safety risks, particularly at intersections where visibility and right-of-way decisions are critical. Authorities often examine roadway conditions, traffic patterns, and other contributing factors during crash investigations to better understand the events leading up to the incident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol has not yet released additional details about whether any other factors may have contributed to the crash. Officials say investigations into fatal traffic collisions can take time as troopers gather evidence, review reports, and speak with those involved.
The tragic loss has left many in the community reflecting on the importance of roadway awareness and safety for all drivers and riders. As the investigation continues, authorities may release further updates once more information becomes available.
