Detoine Melton, Richmond Man Fatally Shot Near Whitcomb Court; Police Investigating.
Richmond authorities are investigating the passing of a 27-year-old man who was found with gunshot wounds Monday morning.
The Richmond Police Department reported that officers responded around 6:43 a.m. on February 16 to a call regarding a shooting on the 2100 block of Deforrest Street near the Whitcomb Court neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found Detoine Melton, 27, of Richmond, unresponsive on the ground. Emergency personnel confirmed that he had sustained gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of his passing.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Major Crimes Detective G. Sullivan. Investigators are urging community members to come forward to assist with the ongoing homicide investigation.
