Officials confirmed that 62-year-old David Shipman died as a result of the crash. Records indicate that Shipman’s driver’s license listed a Sumter, South Carolina address. Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that Shipman was driving a 2002 Dodge pickup truck westbound along SC Highway 90 at the time of the incident. At the same time, a 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on the same roadway.
According to preliminary findings from troopers, the pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Camry. The impact resulted in significant damage to both vehicles and prompted an immediate response from emergency services in the area.
First responders worked quickly to secure the scene and assist those involved. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Toyota Camry was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not released further information regarding the driver’s condition.
