The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist that occurred last week in Dawson Springs.
According to a news release, the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on February 18 in the 4400 block of Charleston Road in Dawson Springs, located in Hopkins County. Preliminary findings indicate that a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Charleston Road and moved into a second lane while attempting to pass another northbound vehicle.
During that maneuver, authorities say the pickup truck collided with a bicyclist who was traveling southbound at the time. The bicyclist was identified as 49-year-old David Baggott of Dawson Springs.
The Hopkins County Coroner’s Office pronounced Baggott deceased at the scene.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing as state police continue to gather information and review evidence related to the incident.
