Authorities in Newark are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Wednesday night in the city’s South Ward. The crash took place on February 11, 2026, around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Chancellor Avenue and Fabyan Place, according to the Newark Police Division.

Preliminary findings indicate that a UPS delivery truck traveling north on Fabyan Place collided with a vehicle heading west on Chancellor Avenue. The impact caused the second vehicle to veer into the crosswalk, where it struck two pedestrians walking westbound.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Danielle Sadowski of Elizabeth, was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 1:18 a.m. Thursday.

A male pedestrian and the driver of the second vehicle were also taken to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The UPS truck driver was unharmed and declined medical attention.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.

Officials have not released additional details regarding contributing factors, and no citations or charges have been announced at this time.

The Newark Police Division is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
