Angelina Tomas-Francisco, Authorities Report Woman’s Death After La Verkin Off-Highway Vehicle Crash.
Authorities have identified the woman who died following an off-highway vehicle (OHV) crash earlier this month in Washington County.
According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement, 45-year-old Angelina Tomas-Francisco later died from injuries sustained in the incident. Officials said she was transported to a local hospital, where she passed away.
Law enforcement reported that the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 7. Three adult women were traveling together along an overlook road when the OHV encountered a pothole. Investigators say the impact caused all three riders to be thrown from the vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that none of the riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Tomas-Francisco was riding as a passenger. An 18-year-old passenger and a 20-year-old driver were also involved. Officials said both remained at the scene and sustained minor injuries.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash was reported and provided assistance. Despite medical efforts, Tomas-Francisco later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, according to the DNR.
The Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional details have been released at this time.
