According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the two-vehicle collision took place around 6:25 a.m. on January 31 along State Highway 302 near mile marker 214. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the crash was reported.

Preliminary information indicates that a GMC Sierra traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane for reasons that have not yet been determined. The vehicle then collided with an oncoming Ford F-250. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and required an immediate response from law enforcement and medical personnel.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was identified as 26-year-old Angel Galindo of Midland. Officials said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Winkler Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.
