Alexandria Blattner, UW–Oshkosh Student Dies Following Ski Accident at Granite Peak Resort.
Alexandria Blattner – Authorities say a student at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh has died following a skiing accident earlier this month at Granite Peak Resort.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Alexandria Blattner was found unconscious on Feb. 5 after reportedly striking a tree while skiing. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead later that evening, according to investigators.
Blattner was a student at UW–Oshkosh and a native of Neenah. The university community was notified of her passing in a letter from Chancellor Manohar Singh, who expressed condolences to her family, friends, and classmates.
In his message, Singh acknowledged the loss as deeply felt across campus and extended support to those affected. University officials have encouraged students and staff to utilize available counseling and support services during this difficult time.
Blattner was also an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, and members of the campus community have shared tributes honoring her involvement and impact.
The Sheriff’s Office indicated that the incident remains under review, though preliminary findings suggest the injuries were the result of the collision while skiing. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
According to authorities, this marks the second fatal skiing incident reported at Granite Peak Resort this year. Resort officials have not publicly commented on the latest incident but continue to operate during the winter season.
Community members and university leaders are remembering Blattner for her presence on campus and the connections she built during her time at UW–Oshkosh. Grief counseling and student support resources remain available as the campus community mourns her loss.
