Kevin W. Lancaster, Contractor Dies After Workplace Accident at Rivian Warehouse.
Authorities in McLean County have identified a man who died following a workplace accident at a Rivian Automotive warehouse on Thursday.
The McLean County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim was 61-year-old Kevin W. Lancaster of Heyworth. He was transported to Carle Bromenn Medical Center after being pinned at the warehouse and passed away shortly after arrival.
According to the Normal Fire Department, crews were called around 1:44 p.m. to the Rivian facility at 301 W. Kerrick Road. Firefighters worked to free Lancaster, who had been pinned between a semi-truck and the loading dock for approximately 20 minutes.
Rivian confirmed that Lancaster was a contractor at the warehouse. Emergency personnel transported him in critical condition, but he was pronounced dead at 2:33 p.m.
Officials from both the Normal Police Department and the McLean County Coroner’s Office said the incident is under investigation. Authorities are reviewing the circumstances to determine how the accident occurred and whether additional safety measures could prevent future incidents.
