Benjamin Biesecker, Austin Police Identify Man Killed in East Braker Lane Homicide.
The Austin Police Department has identified the man who died in a shooting Saturday morning in northeast Austin.
Officers responded around 8:10 a.m. on Feb. 28 to a report of an unresponsive individual at a homeless encampment in the 900 block of East Braker Lane. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:21 a.m.
Police later identified the victim as 53-year-old Benjamin Biesecker.
According to investigators, an unidentified suspect is believed to have shot Biesecker before leaving the area. Authorities have not released additional details about a possible motive or suspect description.
The case is currently being investigated as Austin’s 11th homicide of 2026. Detectives continue to gather evidence and are asking for the public’s assistance.
