Jorge Pederson, Savitha Shan – Authorities have confirmed that a third person has died following a shooting in downtown Austin early Sunday morning. The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Jorge Pederson, 21-year-old Savitha Shan, and 19-year-old Ryder Harrington. Shan and Harrington Died Sunday morning, and Pederson passed away Monday after being removed from life support. In total, 13 people were injured in the incident.

According to Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, the suspected gunman, 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, fired from a vehicle before exiting and continuing the attack with a rifle. Officers reached the scene quickly, and Diagne was fatally shot by police. Authorities confirm that Diagne legally obtained the firearms used in the attack in 2017.

The FBI has joined local and state law enforcement, describing the shooting as a “potential act of terrorism.” Investigators are reviewing extensive video and digital evidence to determine a motive, while also examining whether Diagne acted alone. Search warrants have been executed at residences connected to the suspect.

Both Shan and Harrington were college students. Shan attended the University of Texas at Austin, while Harrington was a student at Texas Tech University. University officials and peers have expressed condolences, describing the victims as valued members of their communities.
