Kamarion J. Hyder, Dyamond Dee , Two Died in a Single-Vehicle Crash in Jefferson County.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Jefferson County.
According to officials, troopers responded around 8:52 a.m. on Feb. 28 to reports of a crash on Highway 552 West.
Preliminary findings indicate that an 18-year-old man from Port Gibson was driving a 2018 Nissan Altima eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities said a 19-year-old passenger from Natchez was also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Both occupants sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Investigators have not released additional details regarding what may have led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. Information about weather and road conditions at the time of the crash has not been provided.
The incident remains under active investigation. Officials said more information will be shared as it becomes available.
