Chelsea Emily Moran, Tennessee Teen Identified in Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on I-20 in Kershaw County.
Authorities have identified a Tennessee teenager as the victim of a fatal crash Friday night on Interstate 20 in Kershaw County.
According to Master Trooper Hannah Davidson with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just before 8 p.m. near the 92-mile marker on I-20 close to Lugoff.
Troopers said a 2016 International tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound when it was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge vehicle. Following the impact, the tractor-trailer traveled into the median and overturned.
Investigators reported that the Dodge continued through the median barrier and entered the westbound lanes of traffic. There, it was involved in a second collision with a 2026 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling westbound.
The Kershaw County Coroner’s Office identified the driver of the Dodge as 19-year-old Chelsea Emily Moran of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Authorities confirmed that she died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
No additional injuries have been publicly detailed at this time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not released further information as the review remains ongoing.
