Clinton Leroy Pulver, Man Identified in Fatal Train Collision North of Libby.
Authorities have identified the man who died in a train collision last month north of Libby. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the victim has been positively identified as 64-year-old Clinton Leroy Pulver of Libby. Officials said the identification was confirmed by the Montana State Crime Lab.
Deputies responded at approximately 10:44 p.m. on Jan. 19 after receiving reports that a person had been struck by a train. The incident occurred in an area north of the city, authorities said.
Investigators reported that railroad employees contacted emergency responders after the collision. According to the sheriff’s office, initial findings indicate the man was on the tracks when the train approached and was unable to stop in time.
Pulver was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials confirmed.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation included coordination with railroad personnel and forensic specialists to confirm the victim’s identity and review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities expressed appreciation to members of the public who came forward with information during the investigation. Officials noted that community cooperation assisted investigators in completing the case.
