Rodney Kline, Lancaster Man Dies in Early Morning House Fire; Investigation Ongoing.

Authorities in Lancaster County have identified the victim of a house fire that occurred Sunday morning on the 600 block of East Walnut Street in Lancaster.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the deceased was 66-year-old Rodney Kline of Lancaster City. Kline was transported to a local hospital following the fire and was pronounced dead there. An autopsy conducted Monday, Feb. 16, determined the cause of death to be smoke inhalation and thermal burns, and the death has been ruled accidental.

According to Lancaster City Fire Department Chief Todd Hutchinson, fire crews responded around 5:30 a.m. and encountered heavy fire conditions on the first floor. Firefighters also noted severe hoarding conditions in the home, which complicated efforts to contain the blaze.

Officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities emphasized that this incident appears to be an isolated accident and encouraged residents to review fire safety precautions in their homes. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available through official channels.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and Lancaster City Fire Department continue to work together to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire. Community members are asked to contact local authorities with any information that may assist in the investigation.
