Myrna Ugarte Gaona, Elkhart Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing and Related Death, Victim Identified.
Myrna Ugarte Gaona – Authorities in Elkhart are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred early Monday morning in the 1200 block of Chinaberry Drive.
According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers responded around 3:37 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a stabbing. First responders found 37-year-old Myrna Ugarte Gaona suffering from apparent stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
During the investigation, officers discovered a deceased man in a creek bed near the residence. While authorities have referred to him as a suspect in the case, his identity has not been released. The cause of his death is currently under review as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and confirmed that authorities consider this an isolated incident with no known threat to the public.
