Myrna Otherson, Visalia Police Identify Victim and Suspect in Fatal Apartment Complex Stabbing.

Visalia police have released new details following a tragic incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex in the city, resulting in the death of a 75-year-old woman. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, but there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The victim has been identified as Myrna Otherson, 75. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Miguel Mora Camacho, who has since been taken into custody and booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility. Camacho is facing a homicide charge in connection with the incident.

According to the Visalia Police Department, officers initially responded to a traffic crash just north of Lovers Lane at approximately 11:30 a.m. While investigating the crash, officers learned that an assault had occurred at a nearby apartment complex.

Police say investigators determined that Camacho, who was involved in the crash, entered the apartment complex shortly afterward and began knocking on multiple doors. When Otherson opened her door to check what was happening, she was attacked.

Emergency responders transported Otherson to Kaweah Health for medical treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, she later died from her injuries. Authorities confirmed that there was no known connection between Otherson and Camacho.

With assistance from residents in the area, officers were able to locate Camacho within the apartment complex and take him into custody. Police stated that during the arrest, Camacho made statements attempting to provoke officers, but no further incidents occurred, and he was safely detained.

Investigators emphasized that the victim and suspect did not know each other and that the incident appears to have been isolated. Police also reassured the public that there is no ongoing danger to the community.

The Visalia Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives are reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses to better understand what led up to the attack.

Incidents like this deeply affect families, neighbors, and the broader community. Authorities expressed their condolences to Otherson’s loved ones and encouraged residents to support one another during this difficult time.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Visalia Police Department. Community cooperation can be vital in helping investigators bring clarity and accountability as the case moves forward.

Police say additional updates will be shared through official channels as more information becomes available.
