Robby Shawn Isbell, Manfred Arvel McCarroll – Jefferson County authorities are investigating three separate traffic crashes over the weekend that resulted in the deaths of three men. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, two of the victims have been identified. They are 38-year-old Robby Shawn Isbell of Pell City and 49-year-old Manfred Arvel McCarroll of Bessemer. The third victim has not yet been publicly identified.
The first crash occurred Friday morning on Interstate 20 eastbound near mile marker 141 in Leeds. Officials said that a single-vehicle crash involved a vehicle driven by Robby Shawn Isbell, who was one of two people in the car. Isbell was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he was later pronounced dead at 10:46 a.m. No additional information about the other occupant has been released.
The second incident happened Saturday evening on Interstate 59/20 southbound in Fairfield. Authorities reported that Manfred Arvel McCarroll was the lone driver in a single-vehicle crash at 8:13 p.m. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but McCarroll was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:31 p.m.
Early Sunday morning, the third crash took place on Interstate 22 near mile marker 91 in Brookside. This crash involved two vehicles and occurred around 2:53 a.m. The male driver, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:00 a.m. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of this crash or the other driver involved.
All three incidents remain under investigation by Alabama State Troopers. Officials said that investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the crashes and whether any contributing factors, such as roadway conditions or vehicle issues, played a role. No additional details regarding the victims’ backgrounds or personal information have been provided at this time.
