Woman Found Dead in Logan County Trash Can Identified as Victim in Homicide Investigation.

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. — A woman whose body was discovered in a trash can Wednesday in Logan County has been officially identified, and authorities are now treating the case as a possible homicide, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) confirmed.

The grim discovery occurred in the Edmond area after deputies responded to reports of a disturbance involving two teens in the 9000 block of Treviso Trail around 2 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they learned the homeowner was missing and later located her body inside an outdoor trash receptacle.

Identity of Victim Released

Law enforcement has identified the woman found dead in the trash can — she was the adoptive mother of one of the teenagers involved in the incident, officials shared.

While her name has not been disclosed publicly yet, authorities confirmed that the victim was known to the teens and lived at the home where the tragic discovery was made. Investigators say evidence suggests she suffered fatal injuries consistent with homicide.

Teenager Arrested in Connection With Death

A teenager is in custody related to the woman’s death. OSBI and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office jointly confirmed the arrest, but due to juvenile privacy protections, authorities have not released names or ages of those detained.

Deputies were initially called to the scene for a reported altercation between two juveniles. During questioning, one reportedly made a disturbing statement indicating the woman’s body had been placed in a trash can — prompting investigators to search the property and find the victim.

Ongoing Investigation

The OSBI has taken the lead in the homicide investigation and will compile evidence for prosecutors, including a full report to be reviewed by the District 9 District Attorney’s Office.

Officials say the community is cooperating as detectives work to piece together exactly what led to the woman’s death and how those involved are connected, noting the case remains active and evolving.

Community Reaction and Safety

Neighbors in the normally quiet Edmond neighborhood expressed shock at the discovery. Residents say incidents of this nature are rare in the area and that news of the homicide has shaken local families.

Law enforcement officials emphasize there is no ongoing threat to the public, but they continue to urge anyone with additional information to contact the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
