 Dajour Ellison, Wilmington Police Identify Man Killed in Creekwood Neighborhood Shooting

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Authorities have identified the man who died following a shooting in the Creekwood neighborhood on Monday evening, Jan. 26, Wilmington police say.

Police responded just after 6 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of Emory Street, a gunfire detection system that notifies officers when shots may have been fired in the area. When officers arrived, they located a man with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified by the Wilmington Police Department as 20‑year‑old Dajour Ellison of Wilmington. Police say the shooting is now being investigated as a homicide.

At this time, no additional information about a suspect or motive has been released. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Wilmington Police Department or to submit tips anonymously via the Tip 411 app to assist with the ongoing investigation.
